Privacy Policy
Last updated: 27 April 2026
Talanoa is a Pasifika language learning app built and maintained by Connect, founded by Dr Francis Katoa. This is the simplest privacy policy we can write — because the app does almost nothing with your data.
What we collect
Nothing transmitted to us. Talanoa stores all your learning data — XP, streak, saved phrases, lesson progress, your name, language preference — only on your device. None of it is sent to a server. We have no account system, no analytics, no tracking, no advertising SDKs.
Subscriptions
If you subscribe to Talanoa+, your purchase is processed by Apple via the App Store. We never see your payment information. Apple shares only your subscription status with the app so we can unlock the right features.
Notifications
If you opt in to daily reminders, the app schedules notifications locally on your device using Apple's notification system. No notification content travels to our servers, because we don't have any.
Third parties
Talanoa uses no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. The only external service involved is Apple's App Store and StoreKit, which Apple handles under their own privacy terms.
Children
Talanoa is rated 4+ and suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children. If a child uses the app, their progress data lives on the device only.
Your data, your device
Because everything is stored locally:
- You can delete all your data at any time by uninstalling the app.
- You can reset your progress in Settings → Reset progress.
- We cannot retrieve, transfer, or migrate your data — it lives only on your device.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and reflect the change in the next app release.
